In the heart of Old Montreal, just south of the bustling Financial District, a unique culinary gem named The Farsides emerged. Founded by John Edward Gumbley and the Jegantic team, this restaurant represented an adventurous fusion of two distinct cuisines, Thai and Hawaiian, coining the term “Thaiwaiian.” Here, patrons experienced an exhilarating blend of authentic Thai and Hawaiian flavors, a dance of exotic eastern spices with the tropical zest of the Pacific.
But The Farsides was more than just a restaurant; it was a reimagination of the classic Tiki bar, featuring over a dozen modern twists on island cocktails. The ambiance transported guests to a different era and place – an alleyway in Brooklyn circa 1992. Surrounded by towering brick walls, graffiti-adorned facades, and even a hand-painted basketball court, the setting was a tribute to the golden age of hip-hop, complete with 80s and 90s beats. The decor, a juxtaposition of urban grit and jungle-like overgrowth, created an immersive experience that resonated with the spirit of Montreal.
December 13th, 2023, marks the fourth anniversary of this extraordinary culinary destination. In celebration of this significant occasion, The Farsides is set to host a spectacular birthday event, honoring not only four years of success but also the first ever grand celebration of its anniversary.
